What better way to get in the mood than to organise one of our Opera Lane and Dreaming Always brunch dates held in the newly opened Dockland restaurant last Saturday. We always love to collaborate with Leona and Nessa from Dreaming Always to create beautiful events in stylish locations which bring together a host of inspiring women. It was a suitably crisp winter morning when we gathered together which seemed like the perfect backdrop to chat about everything from Christmas Day looks, party glamour and with a few gift ideas for guys and for the kids thrown into the mix.

There are so many things to consider with the Christmas day outfit. I’ve never cooked a festive feast in my life so when I picked these looks I had prosecco cocktails at 11am in mind but if you’re going to be cooking up a storn Christmas day then an apron is a must. I always spend the morning and earlier half of the day looking reasonably glam and as I begin to expand from all the chocolate Kimberleys and my clothes start causing me actual physical pain I switch to the pjs. When it comes to leisure wear I can’t cope with fleece as it’s just too warm so I’ve got my eye on some light, star print cotton pjs from GAP this year. A dress is the ultimate Christmas day look for me and there are so many great options on Opera Lane from the on trend star print pieces from the New Look Premium range to the beautiful embellished velvet dresses with extravagant collars in River Island all at affordable prices.  I have my eye on a grey dress from the New Look Premium range which has a full tulle skirt but I’ll be layering it with a luxe metallic knit from Topshop to take the bare look off the spaghetti straps.

Our social calendars are already choc a bloc with lots of parties and there are always one or two gatherings that take us by surprise so it’s very handy to have a few go to party bits in the wardrobe to take the stress out of the party season. Sequins immediately come to ind when we think of a party and why wouldn’t they but go for textures like silk and velvet to luxe up your style and stand out from the regular party crowd.

Every now and then we have to think of others, it’s not all about self gifting you know! I spotted some great coats and scarves and gloves sets that would ensure the men in your life are always looking their best and for the youngsters in the family I’m obsessed with cute festive dress up costumes. My favourite being a Christmas tree dress from H&M. Now why can’t it just come in adult sizes.
