This month’s blogger is John Geaney (John Geaney for Hair). John is three times gold winner at the UK & Ireland Trend Vision Awards and Image Magazines 2016 Business of Beauty winner for best colour. His work has taken him all over the world and he is much in demand as a judge, lecturer and creative stylist on shoots for international fashion brands. He shares his thought on A/W 2016 hair trends here.

It’s often said our hair is our crowning glory, whether we love it or hate it, what we do with it makes a public statement, our declaration to the world – this is me, this is my mood, this is where I’m going.

This season hair is rich in personality that’s both complex and fun just like the juxtaposition of lurex and florals or check and fur. Hair is having a reinvention on styling at the moment, which is where a good hairdresser comes in. Sometimes what is needed is a third party that sees you with fresh eyes, someone who can see the potential within and give it a new unexpected direction.

Multi texture is where it’s all at right now. Creating irregular shapes and wet look fringes. Slick down parting through to ruffled up waves with a very slept in feel.

Hair Inspiration from the catwalks
Hair and fashion are tightly connected. At the moment in fashion, I’m loving the mix of slick textures going on. The mood is definitely bohemian lux.

From ultra-voluminous hair, as seen at Gucci, to the French pleats with a rough finish, as witnessed at Kenzo and Garret Pugh.

The fringe made its come back too, either really short or XXL at shows of Dolce Gabanna and Mason Margelia.
